Our Mission Statement

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Psalms 84:10 KJ)

To serve as doorkeepers in the house of the Lord is an honor and not a duty. We are united in love and prayer always striving to do God's work as He provides guidance. We welcome members and guest into the house of the Lord.

New Mission Baptist Church (NMBC) ushers make the necessary preparation to make sure God's house is prepared for service so the congregation can worship in spirit and in truth. To name a few of our duties, we make sure the church programs are prepared for distribution, pulpit has required items, and providing guidance to the congregation during tithe and offering and communion.

We are attentive to the needs of the Pastor and congregation during services. We are considered the "first responders" of the church for medical and safety purpose.

Purpose

We are representatives of the Lord; therefore, we demonstrate love, joy, patience, gentleness, faithfulness, all of the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The first smile and warmth a person sees is that of an usher. We want everyone to feel the love of God and welcomed as they enter to give praise. Romans 12:13 states "share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality"(NIV).
